Eating and Etiquette
I always wanted to learn table etiquettes when I was in my college. I like eating the right way in restaurants, and parties. In college I never got the chance to learn them because we never went to a restaurant or a party. One time my mom had bank training in Hyderabad and she went for 2 days. So it was me and my father left. My father thinks he cooks well but he does not. So he took me to 3 star hotel Bliss for dinner. Since it was a 3 star hotel there was nobody in the restaurant, seriously it was only me and my father.
I really like foods like fried rice, Biryani, Nan, Curry, etc because my mom cooks typical south Indian dishes like Pappu, charu, Koora, Pulusu. So definitely I want to make use of the opportunity to feed my cravings for such foods.
So we went there and sat in a corner, the lights were kept dim just to maintain the ambience. Then there came two server boys and served free fruit juice as a starter. I ordered egg fried rice that was my first time ordering egg dish outside. Hrrmm hrrrmmm … there came my dish in a Ragi(I forgot what we call this in English) bowl. It looked so cute. Tada taddaarmmmm…… I wanted to test my skills using both spoon and a fork. Believe me I do not know how to eat with a fork and a spoon. I know how to eat with two spoons as we use bigger spoon in left hand for support and smaller in right hand one for eating. But with a fork and a spoon I do not know which one hold and which one to use for eating. So I took spoon in the left hand and fork in the right hand and started eating. But after few scoops I thought whom am I fooling here, I came here to eat not for testing my skills. So dropped the spoon and ate with fork.
After coming to USA going out with friends and family quite often, I feel very comfortable in eating with 2 spoons or, a fork and a spoon, knife and fork. But after sitting in a restaurant we will see so many utensils placed left and right to the plate. I never knew which one to pick up first and I always will be in dilemma to use which one for what. So one day I came home and looked at the etiquettes for table and noted down some simple points and tricks to remember.
I hope this will help understand, because, I feel eating it the right way in outside places builds so much confidence in you and you will really feel satisfied with your food. And who would not want to eat the correct way if one knows how to eat right.
If we are with our friends then who cares, it is the time to be fun and I myself do not care how I eat. But in professional world, so many meetings will take place during lunch or dinner. Or just a casual Formal meeting place in restaurant. The first impressions are always the best. Who know this might come in handy when you are with your special one ;).
I will come up rules of etiquette in my next post. Tell then oxox.

Your Trash Is Someone's Treasure!
Those who do social service and sacrifice their lives for the betterment of others, I believe they are the best human beings. I do not know why but since my child hood or at least I got to know and understand the world and society I was very interested in helping others and I really found peace and happiness in it and I mean it. Period.
One incident changed my whole thinking. Well wanting to help is no different from not helping. When I was in my intermediate I used to go to college in college bus and while coming back in the evening I watched an old Lady of age 70 to 75 years old, every day lying on the foot path and I felt pity for her. One day I saw her lying on the foot path without clothes on her, I thought I should bring a saree from my home and give to her. I went home and asked for my mom for old sarees and I kept one in my bag, but I never had the guts to go to her and give it to her. I was afraid that people would laugh at me or I do not know may be I was afraid how would she react.
Then I realized I am no different from others who do not care for them . Then I told my self that people who do not think or have an idea of helping poor or who are in need of it, they are better than me because at least they stick to the point what they thought in their minds. But as per me I wanted to help them but I am not helping them, what the hell was I thinking and trying to achieve. Since then I strongly believed that when ever I get the power to earn money I will do my part of help to the society.
May be this is the reason why every time when I want to get rid off my stuff, I do not throw them away I pack them and give it to Good will here. I feel happy that during my stay in Lafayette as a student all my clothes, stationary and other stuff which I did not use I gave them to good will each semester. Then I thought it will be good if I can make my friends realize this and that is the reason why I asked my friends Deepthi and Amitha not to throw their clothes away instead put in trash and store them. I thank them very much coz they did that help to me in giving their stuff to good will. I recently gave my cosmetics, clothes and some other stationary to good will when I was cleaning up my room in New Orleans. I thank my self so far and my friends in this journey to do my part to help the society and I hope I will do this till the end of my Life.
It is my humble request to my friends or who ever is reading this, I do not ask you to donate money to a charity or organization, but before throwing away anything may it be pens, note books, text books, clothes, shoes, accessories anything you think is of some value, please give it a second thought. It could really help some others lives. This is the least we can do as for now in our lives. Believe me the happiness you get from this is incredible and indescribable and I have experienced it and as a friend I want my friends to experience it too. Try it at least for once and make your friends do it too.

Chittoor
I did my 4-8 schooling in chittoor. Initially my mom wanted me, my sis and my bro to go to same school. But the government school my mom wanted to join does not have Lkg – 5th classes so I was joined in a private school for 4 and 5th classes and later joined with my bro and sis in the govt school.
Early in the morning my bro and sis used to their school. As my school was nearer to my mom’s Bank, me and my mom used to walk to her Bank and my school. My mom’s Bank comes first and then mine. So I used to say tata to my mom and go back on my way to school. In the after noon I will go to my mom’s bank, and we both sit together in dining room and had our lunch. And again I will go back to my school and come back in the evening. Since mine was lower class my classes will be over at 4.00 PM so I would go the bank and sleep there till my mom completes her work and after that we would head back to home by walk. All the staff of my mother knows me very well. A colleague of my mom used to tease me that he will make me as her Daughter in law and I used to cry loud that I will not be his daughter in law.
When I was in Chittoor I had a plant table rose in the patio of my house. I loved and took care of it a lot. Unfortunately my mother got transfer by the time it started to blossom.
On the week days My sis, me and my Bro we three used to go to the BZ Highscool, I was 6th class then. We all three walked to school it was about 15 min walk from my home, and came home for lunch.
My Brother and sister are all rounder’s unlike me. We three used to participate in all the school competitions. Of course it was my brother and sister who started the tradition. My brother used to participate only in academic competitions such as Quizzes, Essay Writing, Elocutions, Hindi Exams, Sanskrit Exams etc. My Sister along with the above mentioned participated in cultural programs like Dancing, Singing.
They made me participate in all the competitions they have participated. I got so many prizes and certificates for singing, Dancing, elocution, essay writing. All of these I did because my brother or sister told me to do them. But the only thing did out of my own interest and passion was in drawing competitions. I participated in Chittoor district drawing competition for 6th class students from all schools in Chittoor and guess what I secured second prize.
I think because of that interest I was always interested in Sketching and that is why I think I have an eye for beauty, fashion designing coz all these involve creativity. Hope I achieve what I wanted in my future.
And then one more memorable moment in fact it was a mere funny moment. I participated in an Elocution competition which consisted of around 100 participants from all schools in chittoor ranging from 6th to 8th class. I am very proud to say that I got consolation prize for my elocution. Then there were 1,2,3 prizes and a prize called consolation prize which they feel that a person did the best but not sufficient to get a spot in top 3 and hence will announce an extra prize called as consolation prize. So I got my consolation prize and to receive that I went with my family. After receiving the prize, I revealed the truth to my mom that I got less marks in Mathematics I think I got 57 marks out of 100 and I was so afraid to tell her. I thought this would be a good timing to escape from her shouting at me for getting less marks. Butmy mom said nothing to me and she told me to work hard next time. Thinking if it now I believe as a mom she knows my strength and weakness, I think she would not have been surprised to see me securing less marks in Mathematics. Hahha….
One more such incident is I received a prize on stage in front of big crowd is when I got again a consolation prize for my on the spot elocution that was held by Chittoor Library. On the spot elocution is, they give a topic on the spot and we have to prepare an elocution on the spot and say it. Of course I took the help of my brother and wrote down something to speak. Later I shared that with my friend. They called our names in order and my friend went first and said everything what I shared with him. It was my turn next and I also said the same thing. I think the judges thought that I have copied from what he told and delivered. They gave me a consolation prize. I still have the photograph of that prize ceremony.
I know all these are very small accomplishments and there is nothing great about them. But I am a kind of a person who will cherish the tiniest achievement of mine. I believe we are all human beings and we have every right to feel what we want. What do you say?
Apart from above mentioned I was very poor at studies and I still do not remembered what I educated my self when I was in my 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 classes. I did my schooling of 4 – 8 classes in Chittoor and the rest in Tirupati. That’s it for now.
